If you are, the material speaks for itself. On the flipside, though, I can see the advantage of saying you're a filthy/dirty comedian, because while a clean comedian likely can make any audience laugh, a dirty comedian is out to offend, and some audience members would be better off not going cause they'd hate it (and some will love it and want to go ever more). I stick to relatively clean stuff myself and swear sometimes, but try to avoid it being the punchline. That’s a great point about not needing to label yourself as a clean comedian.
